Role & Responsibilities
Design Director: Creative Direction, Design Systems, Cross-Team Collaboration, Editorial Design, UX Strategy
Brief
Teach. Learn. Grow. required a redesign that elevated the visual experience while making a large and growing body of content easier to explore. The blog and key product pages needed to reflect NWEA’s evolving brand, support clearer navigation, and create a more engaging, modern experience for educators.
Solution
Art directed the redesign of Teach. Learn. Grow., partnering closely with UX to evolve the visual system and experience, bringing greater clarity and hierarchy to the content. New page templates, curated collections, and enhanced filtering improved discoverability, while refined typography, layout, and motion aligned the experience with NWEA’s evolving brand.
Previous Design
The former design featured a static homepage and limited filtering, which constrained how educators could explore an expanding library of content.
Inspiration
We looked to publication-style knowledge platforms for inspiration, combining the editorial credibility of modern media with the clarity and structure of product-driven blogs to create a trustworthy, easy-to-navigate learning experience.

Wireframes
Before moving into visual design, wireframes were developed to align stakeholders on structure, content hierarchy, and user flow, ensuring feedback was incorporated early and decisions were grounded in shared understanding.
Component library
I worked closely with the Sr. Digital Content Manager and Web Director as they managed the component library to match my art direction. Using Figma as a collaboration tool, we refined details together so the final build stayed true to the design.
Final Design
The final design improved the overall user experience while more fully integrating the NWEA brand, creating a cohesive journey for readers. Alongside the new component system, we aligned the blog’s tracking with other web properties, resulting in smoother navigation and making it easier for users to naturally discover related content.

“When I first started working with Yoshini in 2019, our company was in the early stages of developing about 100 new pieces of marketing collateral as part of our efforts to establish an effective demand generation program. To this day, I’m amazed by Yoshini’s ability to advocate for good design, lead her team, and make a lasting impact on our brand. Her expert eye and enviable creativity set us apart from our competitors, and her trademark kindness and professionalism always make her a joy to work with.”
